Overseas Exchange Program
UNC Charlotte offers a unique experience for its M.A. students to study international public relations, organizational communication, health communication and mass media at select universities in Europe. Through a consortium arrangement, Masters students study their first two semesters at UNC Charlotte, and then spend their third semester studying at one of three partner universities: Orebro University in Oreboro, Sweden; Manchester Metropolitan University in Manchester, England; or Zeppelin University in Germany.

Courses taken during the students' first two semesters provide the foundation for the more specialized subjects studied in the semester abroad, while preparing the way for the thesis or master's project. Each international study route offers a specialized, yet complementary, set of courses that reflect each particular university's expertise. All courses are taught in English. The structure of the international option and the courses offered at each partner university are listed below.

Admission Requirements & the Application Process In addition to the general application requirements, students applying for the International Communication Study Abroad option must complete the additional international emphasis application form, have two letters of reference specifically address the applicant's potential for international study, and write an essay outlining their international study goals. Those materials should be sent directly to Dr. Shawn Long, Graduate Coordinator, Dept. of Communication Studies, UNC Charlotte, Charlotte, NC, 28223. Students will be asked to select a first and second exchange university choice; wherever possible, students' first preference will be accommodated.

Partner universities provide full assistance in arranging for accommodations. Further information on these estimated costs can be requested from the program coordinator listed below.
