Bio
Dr. Grano’s work focuses on intersections between sport and politics, with particular emphasis on race, health, the body, religion, and public memory. He has published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including the Quarterly Journal of Speech, Communication and Critical/Cultural Studies, Rhetoric & Public Affairs, Critical Studies in Media Communication, and Rhetoric Society Quarterly. His book The Eternal Present of Sport: Rethinking Sport and Religion (Temple University Press, 2017) received the Outstanding Book Award from the Communication and Sport Division of the National Communication Association. He is also the co-editor (with Michael Butterworth) of Sport, Rhetoric, and Political Struggle, which was published in 2019 by Peter Lang.
